2010_Summer AAA REC (San Jose)

Updated 8/25 1:15AM

Welcome to the A/R-SJ division site. You may click on the SCHEDULE/SCORES, STANDINGS, or PLAYER STATS link in the lefthand navigation panel for the information from this division only.

You may also go back to the 2010 Summer season homepage for all of the league-wide information.

A/R-SJ brackets

WED 8/25 (1:15AM) -- We're down to our Final Three. If there's a Repeat Champ, we would probably need to sync it with 6FT-SJ, so I've put down 9/5 for now...

MON 8/16 (10:00PM) -- Even though it says Repeat Championship on 9/12 in the bracket below, we could theoretically still try to have it on 9/5. We'll just have to play it by ear...

TUE 8/10 (1:15AM) -- Here's the playoff bracket for A/R-SJ...

...which means we have these matchups for 8/15...

p2-WB: #9 GMU at #4 LeAhnBury
p2-WB: #6 Garage Kids at #2 All Day (SJ)
p2a-LB: #5 Below The Net at #3 Beast Mode
p2b-LB: Winner-BTN/BstM at #1 Thunderground

We had two upsets on 8/8 which resulted in #9 GMU and #6 Garage advancing in the Winners Bracket. As a result, we have a Losers Bracket in which the lowest two seeds now face each other, then the winner faces the highest seed in the LB. You can also see from the brackets that, for now, we only have one LB game on 8/22, but that could very well be changed into more teams depending on what happens in the WB. For now, I'm too lazy to change it.

You can see that we should be done with at least the first of potentially two Championship games by 8/29. Should a Repeat Championship be necessary due to the double-elim format, we would play that game on 9/12, assuming a 9/5 holiday and if both teams are not already playing in the Vegas tourney. If both teams are, then we would endeavor to finish this out on the 9/5 holiday.

A/R-SJ playoff seeds

WED 8/4 (8:00AM) -- Here are the seeds heading into this Sun 8/8's matchups...
  1. Thunderground (5-2) -- won common opp (4-1) vs ADSJ (BTN/GMU/GKid/Das/LAB)
  2. All Day (SJ) (5-2) -- lost common opp (4-2) vs Thdg (BTN/GMU/GKid/Das/LAB)
  3. Beast Mode (4-3) -- tied common opp (1-1) vs LAB (Thdg/BTN), won strength-of-victory (5.0) vs LAB
  4. LeAhnBury (4-3) -- won h2h vs BTN, won h2h vs GKid, tied common opp (1-1) vs BstM (Thdg/BTN), lost s-o-v (4.3) vs BstM
  5. Below The Net (4-3) -- lost head-to-head vs LAB, won head-to-head vs GKid, cannot finish higher than LAB
  6. Garage Kids (4-3) -- lost head-to-head vs LAB, lost head-to-head vs BTN, cannot finish higher than BTN
  7. SJ Jollybee (3-4) -- won head-to-head vs Das
  8. Das Hoops (3-4) -- lost head-to-head vs SJJB
  9. GMU (2-5)
  10. Tropical Thunder (1-6)
Here's how the tiebreakers occurred...
  • Thunderground beat All Day based on common opponents W-L record.
  • For the teams tied at 4-3, we utilize NFL tiebreaker rules, which tell you to compare within the conference, then across the conference.
  • First, we find out which team finished the best amongst LAB, BTN, and GKid only. It was clearly BTN based on head-to-heads.
  • So when you compare cross-conference, you look at Beast Mode vs LeAhnBury directly.
  • If head-to-head and common opponents still result in a tiebreaker, the NFL goes to "strength-of-victory".
  • In Dream League, we interpret strength-of-victory to mean point differential in games won.
  • We also cap the point differential for blowouts at 20.
  • Beast Mode edged out LeAhnBury on the point differential in games won, so there is no need to compare to the teams below LAB.
  • Meanwhile, the Garage Kids must be compared directly to Below The Net after determining both would finish behind LAB.
So, you have these matchups for 8/8...

playoffs1: #5 Below The Net at #4 LeAhnBury
playoffs1: #6 Garage Kids at #3 Beast Mode
playoffs1a: #10 Tropical Thunder at #7 SJ Jollybee
playoffs1b: Winner-Trop/SJJB at #2 All Day (SJ)
playoffs1a: #9 GMU at #8 Das Hoops
playoffs1b: Winner-GMU/Das at #1 Thunderground

Please note that the low seeds have single-elimination status and they must play a doubleheader to advance while facing an even higher seed in the 2nd game. Teams that finished 4-3 or better get double-elimination status.

A/R-SJ season roadmap

Major swaps made to make some byes happen

FRI 7/23 (3:30PM) -- 7/25 matchups have been determined based on standings.

TUE 6/29 (7:30PM) -- Check the latest roadmap below and you'll see that we put LAB vs BstM on 7/4 to create byes for LAB on 7/11 and BstM on 8/1. That forced us to pin matchups that were supposed to be based on standings, on 8/1. To summarize...
  • LeAhnBury now has a bye on 7/11, as requested.
  • Beast Mode now has a bye on 8/1, as requested.
  • Das Hoops has a doubleheader on 7/18. They had played on 6/6, but doing so only afforded their 6/13 bye.
  • Das Hoops now has a bye on 7/11, as requested.
  • GMU is now playing again on 7/11 and now has a bye on 8/1.
The number of red strikeouts should match the number of green inserted games. Hope it all makes sense. Read the instructions to the right of the table to get your hands around this. Please do a Ctrl-F "find" in your browser to ensure you still have 7 regular season games.

6/29 - swaps to create bye 7/11 LAB, 8/1 BstM
7/21 - pin 7/25 matchups based on standings

BYES: Byes are only allowable
under special circumstances.

If you have a bye later in the season
that is not a formally requested bye,
due to gym fluctuations and other
unforeseen circumstances, that bye is
not locked down; that week's block
of games can still be shuffled around
as necessary until you formally request
that week to be a bye for your team.

GROUND RULES:
1. Please make sure the number of
red rows (games moved from) equals
the number of green rows (games
moved to).
2. Make sure you have 7 regular
season games listed with your
team name.
3. The last 1 or 2 of 7 regular
season games are usually encoded
as inter-conference or other
special type of matchup.
4. The playoffs are pretty much
nailed down, barring unforeseen
circumstances (i.e., no byes!)
5. Any special late bye requests at
this point will require permission
from other teams to shuffle them
around.
6. Special late bye requests can
*usually* be accommodated if your
team plays a double-header some
other week. But sometimes it
depends on if your opponent is
also stuck with a double-header.

TUE 6/22 (7:30PM) -- We have a 10-team division with two conferences of 5 teams each. You can see that it will be 4 games each week within a conference, then the 5th game will feature two random teams from opposite conferences facing each other. By the time we reach the 5th week, everyone will have played 5 games, 4 against a in-conference opponent and 1 random one against the other conference.

The 6th game will be standings-based and cross-conference, hopefully non-repeating the random cross-conferences in the first 4 weeks. Same for the 7th game.

We have a very tight schedule and there will be no byes except those "manufactured" by the 6/6 start between GMU vs Das Hoops. Garage Kids is doing a makeup DH on 7/11.
