6FT-OAK Playoff Brackets
I shouldn't have publicly disparaged TUS

TUE 5/5 (5:00PM) -- If you visited this page earlier today, you would have seen that I publicly disparaged The Usual Suspects and their fans, naming a few names for excessively arguing with referees. In any case, sometimes it's not what you say, but either that you said it or the way you said it. Thanks to a heads up by one of their players, I have realized that the public forum can be too sensitive a place to get your point across. The damage has been done and I regret posting it. It no longer is on here. I feel bad for making them feel bad.

The bottom line was, I felt that anytime TUS was on the schedule and I had to scorekeep it, or get certain refs for it, that I would "dread" going to the gym to do that game. I just wanted to put my foot down and proclaim that if I'm ever going to feel that way walking into one of my own gyms, what's the point?

That's what I wanted TUS to realize and maybe change their ways to affect the bottom line issue. However, in doing so publicly, I ended up making them potentially feel "dread" for showing up at their own game, because anyone put on a bulletin board would certainly feel that way. I certainly don't want that, either, and I didn't realize that was what I essentially did.

There are some other underlying issues having to do with eligibility in the 6FT division and what not, but quite frankly, those pale in comparison to the bigger picture. Both sides are learning from this experience and let's remember, that's what's most important amongst our billions of humans on this one Earth. Alright, 'nuff said.

WED 4/8 (10:30AM) -- Updated thru 4/5. I will discuss tiebreakers and playoff seedings later, but matchups are already posted in the updated roadmap below and the playoff brackets link in the righthand table.

WED 4/1 (12:45AM) -- Pretty straightforward standings thru 3/29 and matchups for 4/5. The only playoff implication was that Team Star lost in OT and now are permanently relegated to single-elim status. Also, same thing happened to Rising Stars and they now sit with 8 regular season games done, until the start of the playoffs. Here are the matchups for 4/5 per the roadmap below...

Grey Goose at Old School 6FT
bye: Sqad Up, Rising Stars
D-Bap at Sqad Up
So So Wet at Flying Elephants
The Usual Suspects at Team Star

TUE 3/24 (11:45PM) -- Well, I don't think there's much to say, actually, about the roadmap except that the matchups and makeup games have been there for a long time. First, here are the scores from 3/22...

6ft-oak: dbap 57, so so wet 39
6ft-oak: grey goose 2, team star 0 (forfeit non payment)
6ft-oak: old school 46, flying elephants 32
6ft-oak: the usual suspects 59, sqad up 55

...and here are the matchups for 3/29 as we approach playoffs after the last regular season block of games on 4/5...

The Usual Suspects at Team Star -- already played
D-Bap at Sqad Up -- already played
So So Wet at Flying Elephants -- already played
Rising Stars (3-4) at Old School 6FT (4-2) -- Obviously the Rising Stars need to win for double-elim status.
bye: Grey Goose, TUS, SqUp
Flying Elephants (0-6) at D-Bap (4-2) -- Well, with 9 teams, #9 could face a DH in the 1st round, so the Elephants are trying to avoid that.
Team Star (2-4) at So So Wet (1-5) -- Amazingly, Team Star didn't pay (poor team financial management) against struggling Grey Goose, so now they have to win out against So So Wet which is trying to avoid the #9 seed and next week against undefeated Usual Suspects. That's just bad team financial management leading to a possible demise of the season. Anyhow, 2 of Team Star's 3 attempts at paying all their slots have been rejected by Google Checkout, so the trend continues... (1:00PM) -- I will explain the roadmap for 3/29 and beyond later.

TUE 3/17 (1:00PM) -- No recaps from 3/15 yet. No outlook beyond 3/22 yet.

TUE 3/10 (12:15PM) -- Here are quasi-recaps from 3/8 and general outlooks...

6ft-oak: old school 54, team star 53 -- Old School won the 6FT last season, but this win only brought them even to 2-2. They've got 3/15 vs Wet (tough one despite Wet only being 1-3), 3/22 vs Rising Stars (tough one), 3/29 vs Grey Goose (do-able based on this season's standings which show Grey as struggling), and 4/5 vs Sqad Up. Wow, it's like the playoffs already started for these guys. Let the race to 4 regular season wins and double-elim playoff status begin!

6ft-oak: rising stars 42, grey goose 36 -- I haven't seen Grey Goose play this season yet, but the loss of Dante Riley inside, due to not only him not being Asian but also he broke his hand (foot?), probably has something to do with it. I mean, "Large Baby" (see, Riley's not exactly the Celtics Big Baby, but I can't say he's "Medium" either) is a presence in the middle if nothing else. Anyways, good to see they only lost by two possessions to the mighty Rising Stars. Grey will need to win out 3 in a row to garner double-elim status: 3/15 vs D-Bap (winnable), 3/22 bye, 3/29 vs Old School (yikes), and 4/5 vs Team Star (do-able). The Rising Stars are surprisingly "only" 3-3. I haven't seen them play much, so I wonder what's happening. They just need 1 more win in the following: 3/15 vs Sqad Up (tough one), 3/22 vs Old School (really tough if Old School gets its act together), a bye on 3/29, and another bye on 4/5. Really tough road for them. With the byes, they might as well finish around #8 or #9 and beg for the potential doubleheader against the #1 seed, just to get their engines revved up again. Should be fun to see what happens.

6ft-oak: usual suspects 61, flying elephants 40 -- Right now, the Usual Suspects are playing out of their minds as usual, led by Dennis Garcia, the Deron Williams of the 6FT. They've got the scrappy Team Star on 3/15, but Team Star would have to play out of THEIR minds to beat TUS. On 3/22, maybe the bye can stop their momentum. And on 4/5, whoever made this schedule is a genius! Haha, like I actually planned it that way. A big showdown between Sqad Up and TUS, currently the only undefeated teams in 6FT remaining. Then we head into the playoffs where I have a feeling Sqad Up and TUS will meet each other sometime deep into the playoffs. In fact, I'm still a bit shocked TUS got booted rather early from the playoffs last season, at the hands of the upstart MVPs (taking the season off) who took Old School to the brink. Meanwhile, the Flying Elephants are struggling and only 1 more loss away from being relegated to single-elim status and a possible low seed which could portend a doubleheader first round if they advance. They have remaining: 3/15 vs Team Star (winnable), 3/22 vs Wet (tough one), 3/29 vs D-Bap (who knows, I haven't seen D-Bap and they're 2-2), and 4/5 vs Old School (tough one). Doesn't look good. Incidentally, I was told that the Flying Elephants could have uniform issues with their orange Warriors jerseys coupled with darker jerseys from guys who forget their jerseys. But hey, I look at the standings to day and they're winless. When you're complaining (about anything not Asian or 6FT-rules related for that matter) about a team that's winless, and esp when you yourself are cruising through the division, let's have a little sympathy okay? I know, I know, we don't want EVERY team out there bringing jerseys that are mismatched, but sometimes certain things don't outweight certain other things. It's just case by case. Without knowing the struggles that the Elephants have gone through this season, I can see why captain Boun Khamnouane was so dismayed when I asked him about this issue on the spot (I hadn't even really check the scoreboard at that point to know they were down 20). Heck, I would be too if my team was already losing by 20 and somebody mentioned something about our jerseys. Honestly, show a little sympathy. There's no need for perfection when things are already going your way. I know that's not a blanket statement, but I hope you know what I'm trying to say.

For 3/15... (see roadmap below)

Old School 6FT (2-2) at So So Wet (1-3) -- I bet this game gets decided by one possession.

Flying Elephants (0-4) at Team Star (1-3) -- Similar teams. This one gets decided by one possession as well.

D-Bap (2-2) at Grey Goose (1-4) -- Haven't seen D-Bap yet, but this is essentially a playoff game for Grey Goose.

Sqad Up (5-0) at Rising Stars (3-3) -- The turning point of the season for Rising Stars, perhaps.

bye: The Usual Suspects -- Maybe the only thing that can stop the Usual Suspects.

6FT-OAK season roadmap

WED 3/11 (11:45AM) -- NEVERMIND THE PREVIOUS POST. Fixed entire remaining schedule to accommodate TUS bye 3/15, Grey bye 3/29, SqUp bye 3/29... (8:00AM) -- Major triple-swap (quadruple?) of 3/15, 3/22, and 3/29 that results in accommodation of bye requests for Grey and TUS on 3/29.

BYES: If you have a bye later in
the season that is not a formally
requested bye, due to gym
fluctuations and other unforeseen
circumstances, that bye is not
locked down
; that week's block
of games can still be shuffled
around as necessary until you
formally request that week to be
a bye for your team.

GROUND RULES:
1. Please make sure the number of
red rows (games moved from) equals
the number of green rows (games
moved to).
2. Make sure you have 6 regular
season games listed with your
team name.
3. The last 2 of 8 regular season
games are usually encoded as inter-
conference or other special type of
matchup.
4. The playoffs are pretty much
nailed down, barring unforeseen
circumstances (i.e., no byes!)
5. Any special late bye requests at
this point will require permission
from other teams to shuffle them
around.
6. Special late bye requests can
*usually* be accommodated if your
team plays a double-header some
other week.
