Tournament schedule modified, only top 3 of 4 in each pool advance
FRI 9/5 (4:30PM) -- I have nixed the 9am Sunday play-in games (all captains have been texted about this), which means only 6 of the 8 teams, the top 3 from each pool, will make to Sunday as part of the final eight. DLBA and Arizona will get an automatic bid into the final eight. The reason is because the El Dorado gym director cannot open the gym that early and it would cost too much for him to stay and push things back. Such is the case when the gym situation is dire. We are already working on next year's situation for improvement.
THU 9/4 (12:30PM) -- Here it is. Add Team KAYA with a 12pm+ tipoff request to the list of previous requests. As a result, they and Team India (which requested 11am+ tipoffs) are the only teams to have a 30-minute break in between games at some point on Saturday. See gym locations at bottom of schedule table, especially my recommendations about Sunday's non-air-conditioned gym...

GYM LOCATIONS:
- Doolittle Community Center ("DCCM" = main gym), 1950 J Street (northeast of strip)
- Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy ("ACPA") is right across the street from Doolittle. You literally walk straight across from the exit of Doolittle into the entrance of Agassi's gym. There is no need to complicate matters further by publishing their address. Stick with Doolittle's address (1950 J Street).
- El Dorado High School ("EDHM" = main gym, "EDXH" = auxiliary gym), 1139 Linn Ln (far northeast of Strip)
THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING AT EL DORADO. It is advised that all players and spectators, once your game is over, get into air-conditioned cars and drive somewhere to kill the time in between games. It is not advised to stay at the El Dorado gym unless you want stay hot. I was sweating just sitting there scorekeeping for hours in a row.

Looking for paid help with some logistics
WED 9/3 (4:45PM) -- Hey folks, I am willing to pay the following for the following...
- SCOREKEEPING: Let's say you got nothing better to do but watch some other teams play while waiting around. Well, then, why don't you help us scorekeep? Depending on the skill level of our scorekeepers, we *try* to do full stats and that requires 2 scorekeepers per game. We have a budget of $8 per scorekeeper per game. Eight bucks to do something pretty close to what you were already planning to do is not bad, actually.
- VIDEOTAPING: If you have a *full* videotape of the whole game, I will pay out of my own pocket (because I love you guys, haha) for a DVD version. Let's come up with a fair price, but it would be nice to have it DVD plus menus to skip to different quarters or something. If you don't have that and just a tape, okay, I'll take that too, but not as gung-ho to pay that much. The idea here is that you were gonna tape your buddy's game anyways. I'm *not* about to go out and buy a camcorder for you and set it all up, that kind of thing. Because of my team playing in the LVI on the other side of town, unfortunately, I can't be there to watch much of the pool play and this is gonna be the best tourney we have had (well, it *always* gets better year after year, so no surprise). But this time I am *truly* curious about some of our teams.
I'm also open to other ideas. Let's say you wanna write about some game. Hey, maybe I'll pay for that, who knows?! If it's valued content for our website that I don't have to spend time on, then we're talking.
Pools set based on pre-existing conditions
WED 9/3 (12:00PM) -- Just got an informative email from one of the teams. As of this writing, "The Man" still hasn't given me an answer on Agassi (read below), so this afternoon, I will post the schedule in chronological order if I don't have tipoffs, so at least you know if you're playing in the morning, midday, or afternoon (sorry!).
