Golden Ballaz win AAA-E championship
MON 12/15 (8:00AM) -- The Golden Ballaz went to RWC on successive occasions to defeat the #1-seeded SJ Monstarz and triumph with the Golden Ballaz' first AAA-Elite championship. Captain Jim Liu said it was about 6 or 7 seasons. Congratulations on the long journey to the top and we hope to have more updates or maybe even a team photo posted soon/someday... :o)
Blazers capture AAA-V championship
SUN 12/7 (8:00PM) -- The AAA-Veterans bracket was a cut-throat road, but the Blazers survived with a win over Little Firepot Of Westlake to take the crown. That leaves an excellent lineage of AAA-V division champions: the DrunkenMasters two seasons ago, the Poorcats last season, and the Blazers this season. Hopefully the AAA-V will be back in some shape or form next season.
AAA-E next round for 12/7
TUE 12/2 (12:30PM) -- Playoff bracket has been updated. As of this writing, we're trying to figure out if In 10 City is going to play in this weekend's tourney (Golden Ballaz and SJ Monstarz are invited as well, just have your captain text me asap). If In10 plays in the tourney, then we would probably have the In10 vs GldB Last Losers Bracket Game on Sun 12/7 at 10am in the morning at SF. This would be convenient for In10 as well as a shorter drive for GldB. I'll keep you posted.
AAA-V next round for 12/7
TUE 12/2 (12:30PM) -- Playoff bracket has been updated. In the AAA-V, LFPW has agreed to play the Repeat Championship vs Blzr in SF. So we will schedule it as integrated into the tournament schedule at ISA on 12/7. Of course, this is barring unforeseen circumstances, such as a sudden interest in either team playing in the tourney. Even in that case, I might still wanna have the Repeat Championship like on Sun morning or something. But for now, just assume the Repeat Champ will happen Sun 12/7 at some time TBD, at ISA.

TUE 11/11 (8:00AM) -- The 6-team AAA-Veterans playoff bracket got underway on 11/9. The #1 and #2 seeds, the Poorcats and the Blazers, maintained their spots, so they will face each other for survival of the Winners Bracket on 11/16.

TUE 11/11 (8:00AM) -- So the 8-team AAA-Elite playoff bracket got underway on 11/9 and the only team that had single-elimination, Last Minute, was eliminated by the #1 SJ Monstarz. Remember, #7 In 10 City has double-elim status after finishing 3-4 in the regular season. Incidentally, they won on 11/9.

TUE 11/4 (11:00PM) -- Okay, we're finally done with the aaa-e/v season and we will now split the Veterans and Elite teams. It's kind of interesting because what we will do is keep the conference structure, then essentially quickly do away with them... More info
DrunkenM's and Blazers need to pay or forfeit
TUE 11/4 (12:15PM) -- We are about to embark on an all-double-elim playoff. However there are two teams, the DrunkenMasters and Blazers AAA that don't have all their roster slots paid -- check the Payment Registry. Because I already got burned this season one time by this, there is a deadline of the standard Wednesday midnight for this to be paid, otherwise I really don't feel like fronting or potentially burning the cost of the refs, gyms, and scorekeepers for these two teams, if I don't have those payments in-hand by the deadline when I have to nail down the logistics.

WED 10/29 (7:00AM) -- Well, not a lot happened this past weekend. The Poorcats became the only original AAA-V team to stay at or above .500, and they did it thanks to a forfeit by Last Minute, the 2nd game the Poorcats have won based on a forfeit! So, except for that unique scenario, all the AAA-V teams that will be split off from the AAA-E teams are now below .500. Same thing for Money Shooters in the AAA-SFJ... More info

Matchups for 10/26 determined (well, almost)
TUE 10/21 (12:30PM) -- In 10 City and DrunkenMasters (and to a smaller degree the Poorcats and Too Short), pay attention to this! So we're coming full circle with the entire AAA-E/V season and I just realized something. We have 6 teams that could've played in the good 'ol Veterans ("AAA-V", aka over-30) division, as you need a minimum of 6 to even have a decent league: Poorcats, DrunkenMasters, SFFD, LFPW, Blazers AAA, and the Money Shooters (which chose to play in the AAA-P instead). Alas, I do believe the DrunkenMasters joined really late. After all, I did charge them a $25 late fee for re-arranging the AAA-E/V schedule to accommodate them after-the-fact, so maybe I didn't really have the opportunity. Auto-forfeits for 10/19
THU 10/16 (7:15PM) -- The following teams are at risk of auto-forfeiting this Sunday 10/19. Remember, only online payments made by Friday midnight count, and you must make sure the scorekeeper receives and acknowledges your payment on paper if you pay on-site by cash or check. Also, we do not give out change and overpayments cannot be extended to other slots -- it's too much bookkeeping for me to do. Finally, please refrain from calling me on the spot. Take care of your responsibilities well ahead of time, study the Payment Registry now, not at tipoff.
Also, as we approach playoffs, know this: (1) I will automatically forfeit teams when I start scheduling next Tuesday, if they are not fully paid and are about to enter playoffs, and (2) only bring as many players as slots paid -- for example, if you have 9 players, you're supposed to pay for 9 slots and I will not even bother scheduling teams into the playoffs if 8 slots are paid, but the 9th and/or 10th are not...

AAA-E/V roadmap updated
WED 10/15 (12:00AM) -- I just realized I may have made an error with the AAA-E/V roadmap. I don't see c-5th, which would in effect be the DrunkenMasters as of this writing, with 3 games remaining. There's no c-5th for that Central vs Pacific weekend of 10/26. I need to look at it more closely, but if that's the case, I will swap out the Poorcats and have In 10 City's 7th and final regular season game be against the DrunkenMasters instead, which leaves the Poorcats with 7 games, which actually doesn't bother me that much... AAA-E/V mid-season catchup
TUE 10/14 (11:55PM) -- Here's a mid-season "catchup". One big thing is that no team that signed up for AAA-Veterans in the beginning is faring better than .500. I'll leave it up to them, with a unanimous vote needed (I think that means everyone's in with none opposed), if they wanna have a separate playoffs from the younger AAA-Elite crowd. Interestingly, the previous AAA-V champion DrunkenMasters are 0-5 and the winners prior to that, the Poorcats are 1-3... More info

WED 10/8 (8:45PM) -- Figured out that in AAA-E/V, BlitzKrieg will assume the east 1st-place standing and take the bye 10/12. That means they have a doubleheader on 10/19. I did this because BlitzKrieg is the only team amongst Dynasty and Golden Ballaz that does not have players on multiple teams (those players are already playing a doubleheader on 10/19). FRI 10/3 (8:00AM) -- Here are the teams at risk of auto-forfeiting this Sunday 10/5. Remember that online payments made only as of Fri 10/3 at 11:59PM will count towards those due on 10/5. If you are listed as "TO BE DETERMINED", that means I don't have your gym binder in my possession to give final confirmation, so in the meantime check the Payment Registry for last week's status and verify with your teammates that they paid on 9/28...
I hope to have more positive news with a mid-season recap article soon. I already wrote one for 6FT, but I won't be free until late afternoon Fri again to write anything, so we can only hope I have the energy to muster one up soon.
Auto-forfeits have finally caught up to you
FRI 9/26 (8:00AM) -- I mean, you had to know this was coming. Hey, you guys are actually on track here, although there is still risk of auto-forfeiting. Pat on the back to the AAA-E/V! Thanks to Big Tony's efforts with the standings, I can now figure out who owes how many payments. First off, here are the ground rules:
- All payments must be made before tipoff. None of this, "Oh it's in the car, I'll get it after the game." Heard that one a million times. We're in an age of an ATM on every block. Go down the block. We'll see you soon. Oh and btw, if we have to wait for you, then the pro-rated 7-minute quarter time kicks in. Your opponent's not gonna be happy about that.
- All payments must be made in full. It's $94 for SJ/RWC-based teams and $89 for SF/OAK-based teams this week. Scorekeepers have been instructed not to accept anything less than $94 or $89. And they will not carry change.
- Any online payments must be accompanied by a printed receipt of the Google Checkout payment and given to the scorekeeper. This saves the scorekeeper from calling the commish, who would have to look up the payment receipt in his email inbox, which takes time, which will eat away at your game.
- All payments must be accurately recorded on the front of your scoresheet. If it doesn't, then I have no record of the payment, and your team might end up still owing your slot next week, at $1 more to boot.
- We don't care who pays for your teammate's slot. If you don't want to cover your teammate's spot, then the whole team suffers with the auto-forfeit. We're certainly not in the mood to be left holding the bag.
