Hawaii Chosen Few cruises to 'chip
SEPTEMBER 10, 2007 (8:00AM) -- Led by MVP point guard John Lane, the Hawaii Chosen Few blew by the competition (albeit after a double-OT opening round squeaker against the Las Vegas Aces on Friday night) to capture dreamleague's Asian American National Championship for 2008. Previous champions were LA Showtime in 2007 and Southbay Shootout in 2006, along with the California Shockwaves in early 2006 before we standardized it to every September.
More stories, stats, pics, and videos will eventually be posted. We understand this is long overdue, but with so much on my plate, I'll just try to get to it when I can. Looks like the next window of opportunity to spend a few days on this is the end of Feb 2008.

SEPTEMBER 5, 2007 (8:00AM) -- All remaining team entry fee balances must be paid to the scorekeeper prior to your first tipoff, otherwise you will forfeit. If you are paying cash, please be sure to have the scorekeeper write the payment down on the scoresheet. Also, it is best if your captain calls me on cellphone to confirm the payment, otherwise your game could be forfeited inadvertently by the refs.

SEPTEMBER 5, 2007 (8:00AM) -- I've been around a long time and with all due respect to all my fellow tournament directors, each year the AANC field just gets better and better. Sure, we have yet to see it all play out on the court, but in anticipation, I can confidently say that this is the strongest field I've ever seen in any Asian amateur tournament... More info
Sunday bracket to be determined late Saturday night
SEPTEMBER 5, 2007 (8:00AM) -- The last game on Saturday night will end at 8pm. Because I need to compile all the results and use head-to-head and point differentials as tiebreakers, I will need at least until 11pm-12am late Saturday night to figure things out for Sunday. But if you saw the schedule for Sunday, you'd have seen that the earliest game is at 9:30am and 10:00am for the #7 thru #10 seeds. So use common sense here. If you went 3-0 on Saturday, there's no way you're the 7th seed, so relax and wait for my call to confirm that you're playing at 12pm -- you only need to know where. On the other hand, if you went 0-3, then you might as well set your alarm for early Sunday morning.
So I'll talk to you late Saturday night. All captains should have my cellphone number by now. Here are the Sunday brackets... More info
