We got LeBron'ed by Solomon Mercado!

JUNE 4, 2007 -- This past weekend, the Wizards beat our new-era Dream League All-Star team in the finals at the Showtime Filipino/Asian tournament in Hayward. Actually, one guy beat us and turned LeBron James into a verb. Solomon Mercado, who is scheduled for a tryout with the Toronto Raptors this summer, LeBron'ed us by scoring 21 of 26 straight points. Given the circumstances of running clock format, we really had no chance to recover from this. But we vastly improved ourselves after an opening loss to a Rodney Campbell buzzer-beater, soundly beating a San Diego All-Star team led by Chaminade University's James Francisco, getting revenge on Campbell's team, and disposing of a depleted San Jose Inside Moves squad before succumbing to Mercado... DLBA finally at near-full strength for Showtime Hayward

JUNE 1, 2007 -- The curtains will finally open this weekend as the DLBA All-Stars send their best squad in quite some time to the prestigious Showtime tournament in Hayward... Full story soon

Hawaii spoils Alpine's triumphant return

MAY 29, 2007 -- The Return of the Alpine Striders. Or was it the Empire Strikes Back? Either way, a Jedi master by the name of John Lane helped the Hawaii Chosen Few spoil what would have been a triumphant return of Coach Tony Wong and the legendary Alpine Striders program, at the 32nd Annual LA Tigers Tournament this past Memorial Day Weekend. The team representing "SF Dream League" finished in a humbling 6th Place, although the brackets were somewhat haywire... More info

DLBA to send a rag-tag team to represent in LA

MAY 25, 2007 -- Without the services of its entire starting lineup, the DLBA All-Stars will send a team composed mostly of dreamleague Bay Area's Prodigies team from its 2nd division (the "AL-Elite" division), anchored by Sunny Margate at the 4, Mark Scates at the 5, sharpshooter Joel Sales, a legend of Filipino basketball who is now 45 years old (!), and two 19-year-olds... DLBA gets upset in opener, then cruises to 3rd Place

MAY 7, 2007 -- The NorCal Hoopaholics (fka the Pac Coast Barons) soundly defeated a mixed/younger LA Tigers Red squad to take the Sacramento Barons tournament. In their first time playing together, the Dream League Bay Area All-Stars lost a nailbiter 78-76 to the LA Tigers Red, then cruised to 3rd Place over the upstart Jumpsoles and the Alpine Striders... end of inaugural era of dreamleague all-starsNew era of Dream League All-Stars begins this weekend

MAY 4, 2007 -- The newly revamped Dream League All-Star team will make its first tournament entry at the Sacramento Barons tournament this weekend, following the monumental departures of two-time MVP shooting guard Karl Gusner and all-purpose defensive stopper, the relentless Ross Lim. Gusner and Lim have decided to play with their old friend Ryan Dunn who helps organize the Pac Coast Barons (aka NorCal Hoopaholics). This means the Dream League All-Stars' return to glory at the December Gold Rush Tourney marks the end of the highly successful inaugural era with the All-Stars... More info

Welcome to the DLBA All-Stars Team Journal

MAY 31, 2007 -- Now, why did I decide to do a journal for our best traveling tournament team, the Dream League Bay Area All-Stars? Mainly, after talking all weekend in the car and our hotel room with fellow passionate Asian baller Torrent Lee while attending the 32nd Annual Tigers Tournament in Los Angeles, I noticed that somehow, somewhere, someone has to chronicle what's been evolving in Asian ball...
