Last Three Remaining and Barrio Gone Nuts Bird's eye view of schedule Playoff Brackets

OCTOBER 6, 2006 (2:00PM) -- Scratch the triple-header scenario for Barrio. This is because BaDa Bing, unfortunately not as reported by the captain but by a more informed player, has a wedding to attend in the late afternoon.

Welcome to the Summer 2006 season (6/8)

Barrio has issues with players being out of town on 10/15, so what we will do is, ONLY IF IT COMES DOWN TO IT, we will swap phone numbers of the two teams' captain and let them figure out what time and where the repeat championship should be held, be it on a weeknight before the trip or what have you.

Maybe this is all a moot point, though. Again, the Barrio Boys would have to win both games for this to happen.

OCTOBER 6, 2006 (8:00AM) -- The W#2 Barrio Boys lost to W#1 BaDa Bing last Sunday, so the Losers-Bracket-waiting E#2 Refugees go up against the Barrio Boys for the right to face BaDa Bing in the championship at PHRC.

One twist of fate: if the Barrio Boys beat both the Refugees and BaDa Bing to force a repeat championship matchup against BaDa Bing, the game will still be played this Sunday, at 4pm!

This is because of scheduling issues with the Barrio Boys, in which players will be out next week, some out of the country. So they became the first team in Dream League history to request a TRIPLE-header should it come down to that.

Of course, they first have to beat the Refugees. If the Refugees manage to somehow survive and knock off both the Barrio Boys and BaDa Bing, the repeat championship of Refugees vs BaDa Bing would occur on 10/15 at PHRC, since BaDa would still own the homecourt due to their superior win-loss record and assuming the gym is available next week.

Playoff Matchups for 10/1

SEPTEMBER 28, 2006 (2:00PM) -- The schedule is finalized because it is now on the SCHEDULE/SCORES page. Please see the bird's eye view schedule (link above) for the detailed explanation.

SEPTEMBER 28, 2006 (8:00AM) -- We're still finalizing the schedule and it should be up by today (Thu) afternoon. For now, check the bird's eye view (link is above) and the updated playoff brackets. Note: Refugees get a bye as they await a Losers Bracket opponent.

Playoff Matchups for 9/24

SEPTEMBER 19, 2006 -- The playoff brackets still remain the most complicated to date.

With only three Winners Bracket teams remaining, someone in the Losers Bracket has to play against someone in the Winners Bracket, unless someone out there can come up with a better solution.

So we've first paired the lowest-seeded against the highest-seeded Winners Bracket teams, W#1 BaDa Bing vs W#5 Wolverines. We're left with W#2 Barrio Boys. So we've picked the lowest-seeded Losers Bracket team to face them, which is E#4 Last Minute.

That leaves E#3 Pride and E#2 Refugees. If either Last Minute or the Wolverines upsets, then we'll have further complications, otherwise we'll take the two survivors of the Winners Bracket on 10/1, with the loser to play against the survivor of the Losers Bracket on 10/8, followed by a doubleheader advancement to the Championship against the winner of the Winners Bracket. We could have a possible repeat championship on 10/15 as well.

Playoff Matchups for 9/17

SEPTEMBER 13, 2006 -- We had a couple surprising upsets such as close friends E#1 WOH and E#2 Refu going down. With 3 Winners Bracket teams to advance to 9/24, we still don't know what the bracket is supposed to end up looking like. We'll probably attach the Losers Bracket onto the 3rd Winners Bracket team somehow on 9/24. As such, we'll just matchup on 9/17 according to cross-conference diversity and low seed vs high seed, plus eliminate as many Losers Bracket teams as we can:

WINNERS BRACKET
W#6 Fade at W#1 BDB (in SF)
W#5 Wolv at E#3 Pri (in Oakland)
E#4 Last at W#2 Barr (in SF)

LOSERS BRACKET
W#3 Cash at E#2 Refu (in Oakland)
Winner-Cash/Refu at E#1 WOH (in Oakland)

In the Losers Bracket, remember we have the right to impose a doubleheader on any team there and the team with the highest seed auto-advances, so WOH faces the winner of Cash or Refu.

Playoff Picture for 8/27

AUGUST 25, 2006 -- Brackets are usually a multiple of 4 which whittles down to a semifinal of 4 teams, but we have 12 teams which will whittle down to 3... More info

Scheduling Notes for 8/27...

T-SHIRT UPDATE: Superstar kid scorekeeper EJ and Commish spent 4 hours last night sorting out the t-shirts. All t-shirts owed should be passed out by this Sunday at your respective gyms. Please see a scorekeeper. Also, the quantities for the New t-shirts were messed up, so we gave the Circle or Gothic version to those of you whom we think have not been in the league as long as others.

Payment Auto-Forfeits as of 8/23

Excerpted from an email sent today to all captains with outstanding payments: YOU WILL ALSO FORFEIT THE ENTIRE PLAYOFFS. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO PAY. ABSOLUTELY YOUR LAST CHANCE, PERIOD -- NO MORE WAITING ON UNPAID PAYMENTS AFTER 8/27 ANYMORE AND I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO BE THE BAD GUY AND CUT YOU AND YOUR TEAM OFF.

AUGUST 23, 2006 -- We will be calling refs on the spot to ensure payments have been made to ANY SCOREKEEPER prior to tipoff (not after). The following teams are at risk of forfeiting their next game:

BARRIO BOYS: 7 spots paid by Geraldo (2), Noah, Jeffrey, Merlito, Anthony, and Armand. Not accounted for: Ron. Had 10 players on 6/18 and 9 on 7/9. Must pay for those slots before tipoff of 8th game on 8/20 if they are to be eligible for playoffs. If not eligible, must pay $15 for extra spots utilized during regular season.

LAST MINUTE: 7 spots paid by Enrique, Ben Thornton, Justin, Mark, Reno, Benjamin Wong, and Ryan Lee (both spots paid by Al Onia allocated to 6FT team per discussion with Don Dizon). Not accounted for: Al Onia.
