LAS VEGAS, NV -- Welcome to Sin City! By now everyone is surely eager to see the schedule and know who and what they are up against this weekend... More info
Completion of Team Entry Fees
Certain teams have made a special arrangement to pay their entry fees, be it a team of free agents or a captain who has gone great lengths to help the coordination of tourney logistics. For these team captains and free agents, here are specific instructions:
Forfeit Time = Tipoff Time
- Before the start of your first scheduled game, pay the SENIOR SCOREKEEPER (it will be obvious: the older-looking fellow, not the kid who could easily run off with the money). YOU MUST DO THIS BEFORE TIPOFF. YOU MUST PAY THE REMAINING BALANCE IN FULL.
- Call the commish at xxx-xxx-xxxx to confirm payment and that the scorekeeper has logged the payment in the binder.
- If the commish calls the scorekeeper or referee and the game has already started, and the remaining balance has not been made in full, the refs will stop the game and YOUR TEAM WILL FORFEIT IMMEDIATELY.
Actually, if you read our rules, the official cutoff time is 15 minutes after the scheduled tipoff time. However, this is only if the other team agrees to play you even though you are late -- and even so, we would have to cut the 1st and 2nd quarters to 7 minutes instead of 9 to make up for lost time. Chances are, even in pool play, teams that have the opportunity to advance by forfeit will probably choose to do so, even if you are only 1 minute late. Also, referees will customarily refuse to work a forfeited game.
So please figure out how to get from one gym to the other ahead of time. It's all on you. Just click on the gym abbreviation on the SCHEDULE/SCORES page.
By the way, if your team needs to pay, the time it takes you to pay the scorekeeper (if it carries over past tipoff) counts as forfeit time.
Online Waivers = You Get Your Stats
This one's simple. Each and every player or coach that steps foot on the court must submit an ONLINE WAIVER. If you have already submitted an online waiver in the past and have not changed your name, address, or phone number, you need not resubmit a new one. If you have never submitted an online waiver or changed your name, address, or phone number since you last submitted one, you must submit a new online waiver.
We will not post statistics for any player that does not show up in our online waiver database.
24-Second Shotclock for Masters?
We will go with the standard Dream League NBA-style 24-second shotclock unless both teams in any given game agree to change it to either 0:30 or 0:35 and the shotclock can be changed from 0:24 as such without difficulty.
If the shotclock is changed from 0:24, please remind the referees that a backcourt violation will occur if the ball does not cross halfcourt within 10 seconds, not 8 seconds.
Again, these issues are to be unanimously agreed upon by both teams prior to tipoff, otherwise the 0:24 and 8-second backcourt rules stand.
To avoid confusion, the shotclock and 8-second rules should not be changed after the game has already started.
