T-One 58, Ryusei 38

T-One Stakes Its Claim

APRIL 10, 2005 -- T-One staked its claim in the division race by clearly outplaying Ryusei, which was previously tied for 1st Place. T-One attacked Ryusei’s 2-3 zone defense with good ball movement and accurate outside shooting. They seized control of the game early and led 19-9 after the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, T-One went on an impressive 19-5 run that effectively ended doubt over the game’s outcome. Guards Jon Yonamine (18 pts) and Dave Su (8 pts) led T-One’s fastbreak attack, which produced a flurry of lay-ups and open jumpshots. Ryusei tried to respond with its transition game, but missed countless mid-range jumpers and committed many costly turnovers in transition. Glen Lum scored 11 pts and Jon Kwok added 14 in the losing cause. However, Kwok missed multiple shots in the paint and committed several turnovers in transition during the first half. The second half was uncompetitive, and T-One won the one-sided contest, 58-38.
