Rayguns Again Offer Little Resistance Getting Eliminated By Game Time |
| DECEMBER 19, 2004 -- For the second straight week, the #2 Rayguns failed to put up a decent fight as they withered away in the playoffs. #1 Game Time routed the Rayguns 62-39 to setup a one-game championship showdown and rematch against #5 Setai Cossa.
At least this time, the Rayguns hung around for one quarter, but by halftime, they trailed 31-21 and once again it went downhill from there. Brian Liang took charge down low, hitting 4-for-6 on free throws in the 2nd quarter alone, to finish with a respectable 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Rayguns couldn't hit anything in their run-n-gun style, going just 4-for-14 while Game Time went 7-for-14 in the 2nd quarter to take the 10-point lead.
In the 3rd quarter, the Rayguns' Jeremy DelaCruz continued dismal shooting over the past two games, going 1-for-6 on 0-for-5 from downtown. DelaCruz would finish with just 6 points on 3-for-14 shooting. The Rayguns' leading scorer, Alvin Vinoya, also went cold, ending with just 8 points on 3-for-11 shooting. And forward Al Yee connected on just 3-for-11 from the field as well. The Rayguns didn't have point guards Mike Hong or Vince Chooi available, but it seemed like nothing could have stopped the scoring drought.
On the other end of the court, Hubert Liu led Game Time with 8 points in the 4th quarter to end all hopes of a comeback. Liu finished with 23 points on 9-for-15 from the field. Jameel Uddeen was held scoreless but grabbed 11 rebounds. Mike Oberhaus was the unsung hero for Game Time, scoring 11 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. | Score by Quarters | Team | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | OT | Total |
