Touchless, Rams, HEADS, and Hoopwear are Early Favorites
OCTOBER 20, 2004 -- Touchless, the Rams, the HEADS, and Hoopwear all won big games recently and look to be the early favorites in their respective divisions. However, observation of all conferences still leads to the conclusion that the AL West is simply a cut-throat group, while there seem to be some Oakland teams that might have been better suited in the AAA. Quasi-mid-season previews are given in the quick game recaps from 10/17 below...
Note: Stats are still expected to be caught up the week of 10/25-29.
Despite Win Over Syuhn, Fob5 still has to Prove its Mettle
NL-Caliber Hoopwear Takes Care of Business Against Alliance
Touchless Adds More Height While Oskis Look for Some Chemistry

Bench Gremlin Regains Form Against Alameda Generals
Rams Win Again, but Rebels Can Claim Long-term Moral Victory
Big Gamerz Make Solid Roster Moves, Leading to Wildcards' Slide
Carpet Depot Gets On the Board With Victory over Fun n Gun
HEADS Turn Heads With 25-Point 4th Quarter over the Newcomers
Fly Rice Upends Those Guys, But Road Remains Difficult
TEAMS THAT HAD A BYE ON 10/17:
Warriors: They can certainly shoot, with captain Hank Kim from downtown and Manish Nandani from midrange, but they lack quickness and the size of Billy Huang will be outnumbered by most elite AL teams...They'll need to slow things down to a halfcourt game to have a chance against the up-and-down play of the HEADS, Rams, and Rebels.
What Is It: As newbies to Dream League, they're still somewhat of a mystery, but captain Al Onia has proven he can shoot and John Nguyen has obvious size down low, despite inconsistent post-up play...Thus far, they have two wins against Those Guys and Fly Rice, so the road remains much, much more difficult ahead and hence, no conclusions can be drawn yet.
OVERALL OUTLOOK:
Proven championship-caliber (i.e., the Elite) and has momentum: Touchless, Rams, HEADS, Hoopwear, SF Tigers, maybe Alliance, maybe Rebels. Teams that need to do something special coming up to become Elite: Alliance, Rebels, Fob5, Oskis, Newcomers, Bench Gremlin, Big Gamerz, Wildcards, Warriors. Teams liable to get stuck in middle-of-the-pack or worse: Fob5, Oskis, Newcomers, Bench Gremlin, Big Gamerz, Wildcards, ARMY, Syuhn, Warriors, What Is It, Alameda Generals. Teams that need a big upset to change direction: What Is It, ARMY, Syuhn, Those Guys, Fly Rice, Fun n Gun. PLAYOFFS ROUND 1a (single-elim): #11 vs #22, #12 vs #21, #13 vs #20, #14 vs #19, #15 vs #18, #16 vs #17. PLAYOFFS ROUND 1b (same day as Rd 1a, top 8 get double-elim): #1 vs #16/17, #2 vs #15/18, #3 vs #14/19 and so forth | Score by Quarters | Team | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | OT | Total |
