JULY 15, 2004 -- Brief playoff previews... #9 Free Agents vs #8 Flying Elephants: Free Agents are unpredictable, probably depends on availability of league scoring leader Dave Shu...If they do it, they have to do it now, since they only have single-elimination status...Count on a close game, as Elephants' margin of victory has been slim all season against .500+ teams. Winner-Free/FlyE vs #1 DFB: When all the pieces are there for DFB, they are really hard to beat...DFB is a huge favorite over Elephants, but Free Agents are more of a dark-horse. #11 Fun Police vs #6 BTR: How fitting that they meet following last week's forfeit by Fun Police...Yih-Wei Chien is finally back for BTR, so the inside game favors them...Like Shaq vs KG, with Jon Kwok in the KG role for FunP...Winner of this game will need to jet over to PHRC from SMRC after the buzzer. #12 Token vs #5 Striders: Even though Token is only a #12 seed, this one's sort of a toss up. Winner-Token/Striders vs #4 Fob Five: Fob Five's only two losses have come against Alliance...Either team would be a heavy underdog against Fob5...Could Striders/Blazers star Godwin Wong end up playing an unprecedented 4 Dream League games in a row?! #10 Maestros vs #7 Got Rice: By struggling through the first part of the season, the Maestros got a chance to hammer the cellar dwellers of the North later on, so they're probably better than a #10 would indicate...Got Rice has been hot or cold all season...So this one is another toss up. Winner-Maes/Rice vs #2 Alliance: Even though Maestros only lost by 5 to Alliance, both teams should be considered heavy underdogs...Eugene Chung has been on a 20+ pt binge following a season-low output of 15 pts in the first week.
