Bearmen 2.0 99, Thelonious Dunk 88

Bearmen Win in Shootout, 99-88; Kash Drops 35, Dave Wang Gets 40

Oh, what a game it was...

"What.the.heck."

That was the response Mr. Commish, B-Yang, left on the Dreamleague Facebook page after seeing the final score. That's right folks, what the heck is all you could really say. The Bearmen and Thelonious Dunk put one of the best scoring displays the DL has seen in recent memory and probably the highest scoring game in AAA history (can someone dig it up?).

As a fan, it was just a spectacular display of one-upmanship and it seemed like the first team to reach a 100 would easily win. The Bearmen came into the game boasting the top 3 AAA fantasy players. Thelonious Dunk wasn't going to just sit back and watch, they wanted to join the party and boy did they ever.

Mark Lee (22 pts, 11 rebounds) and Dave Wang kept shredding the Bearmen defense, getting through the lane at will. Every Bearmen guard had trouble staying with their quickness and dribble. When they did catch up to Wang and Lee, it was too late, the ball was through the hoop already or Danny Chin was picking up fouls. Wang did most if his damage in the 2nd and 3rd quarters en route to a career high and AAA season high 40 (one more than Chris Kwan's 39 this past weekend).

Once Dave Wang got hot, Lee took a backseat to watch his counterpart tear apart the Bearmen 3-2 zone defense. While Lee and Wang were doing their own thing, the Bearmen big 3 came to play too. Danny Chin, in his usual fashion, delivered his second triple-double of the season with a line of 11 pts, 11 boards, 11 assists. He also had 2 steals and a block. One of his beneficiaries is always his wing sidekick, Kash Money, who put on another sick shooting display with 35 pts on 13/21 shooting & 9/16 from the 3 point line. He also grabbed 12 boards to help out D-Chin down low. Mike Chin, frustrated with the way his team played defense decided to attack the rack at will and take out the frustration against Dunk. He dropped 20, had 8 assists and 5 thefts.

While the big 3 kept chugging along, it was Eugene Truong's offensive explosion that propelled them ahead. Missing only 2 shots (6/8 shooting), Gene kept getting easy buckets in the open court and attacking the lane every chance he got. He had a stretch in the 3rd quarter where he scored 8 straight Bearmen points. While it may not seem like a lot compared to the 99 points they put up, it's a lot, trust me.

The Bearmen tried to hit the century mark, but Mike Chin slipped and fell on the baseline with about 20 second left, which could have given them 101 for the night. Surely, they didn't mind the 99 they put up though.

Only if someone was videotaping this game. We could put it up on YouTube and share it with everyone because it was just one of those games, where anything went and wow, what a shootout it was. People needed to see this game for sure. Can we please see these two teams in the playoffs again? Another question to ask is, have the Bearmen turned into the DL's version of the Phoenix Suns? They don't have a big man, have 3 solid scorers and can run up and down with any team and more importantly, they don't seem to want to play defense. While that may not be such a good thing for them, look what's happened to the Suns in recent years, it sure is fun to watch, which is why we watch the Suns anyway, right?
