Fury Leave A Ball Winless Still | A Ball Falls to 0-6
| September 27, 2007 – New York, NY (DL) – Danny Han is a massive pain and James Park is the new Big Nasty, but A Ball cannot buy a win.
After dropping a 54-47 decision to the Fury (4-2) on Thursday, A Ball dropped to 0-6 and have nothing to blame but bad luck.
They can’t blame themselves. No way, no how.
Not with Danny Han the human missile diving all over the place to nab 9 steals.
Not with the Big Nasty dropping 18 and grabbing 10.
No, they got legit players, Andrew Chen (10 points, 3 steals) will tell you as much.
This was a 42-40 ball game after three quarters of play.
Park was having his way inside at an alarming rate and players like Jeff Baik and Jae Ha Hwang were coming up with timely shots to keep A Ball within range.
After Chen tied the game up to start the 4th on a drive and Park retied it again with a jumper, that bad luck kicked in again.
Oh, the Fury had something to do with that.
Roger Redhead (9 pts, 11 rbs) dropped a couple of triples in the 4th, A Ball’s 3-point shots started hitting nothing but air, and the Fury did decent at the stripe to put the finishing touches on the game.
It was hardly a spectacular game for the Fury who were expected to waltz to the win, but they got it done – and last we checked, getting a “W” is all that mattered.
Christian Stevens only had 2 points, Phil Moon – the rookie of the season candidate – rarely shot (just 4 field goal attempts), Chris Youn wasn’t his usual ornery self, and Jeff Moy missed all his 3-points tries.
It was good enough for them however because they had Shawn de los Reyes and Ren Hsieh to pick them up on this day.
SDR helped get them out to an 18-10 lead after one with 5 quarter points and Hsieh’s two triples helped them open up a 9-point halftime lead.
A Ball scrapped after that as Han seemingly got all 9 of his steals in the 3rd (he didn’t) and the Fury were flustered into just 5 field goal attempts in the quarter to allow A Ball back in the game, but in the end, what happened happened.
SDR finished with 14 points and 3 steals and Hsieh chipped in 11.
The Fury did what they did, but there’s no denying that A Ball’s just cursed this season too. | Score by Quarters | Team | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | OT | Total |
