Dream League Bay Area All-Stars 65, LA Tigers Off-White 57

Depleted Tigers Off-White fall valiantly to DLBA

5/28/2007

The Tigers Off-White only had six aging veterans to begin with, but still managed to overcome a 20-point deficit to the Dream League Bay Area All-Stars to eventually lose by 8 points and forfeit the game at the end due to 2 players with injuries or cramps.

We took a 42-32 into halftime with Sunny Margate (#72) doing damage from the field, going 6-for-7, as well as at the charity stripe, going 5-for-6, for a total of 17 points in 20 minutes of running clock play.

But that's when the Tigers hunkered down and moved the ball around to the right open three-point shooter. The stats show that they didn't make that many threes, but it sure felt like it. Emory Peters (#21) went 4-for-5 in the 2nd half and Mark Sahara (#15) added a trey. Even though Mark Scates (#1) was blocking shots left and right, the 20-point cushion turned into 15, then 13, then 11, then 8. We just couldn't hit anything and Nick Wong (#20), who scored just 5 points against the Alpine Striders, ended up with only 4 in this one.

At the 2-minute mark, one of the Tigers went down with a cramp and they only had 4 players who could play. The lead was only at 8 at the time, but the Tigers still called the game. I was happy that we won and that we had a lead of 20 on these guys, but I'm not quite sure how everything collapsed to end up winning by 8.

Still, I felt we were ready to seek quasi-revenge on the Tigers Red for 5th Place tomorrow. The Tigers Red had a couple players that beat us in the first game at the Sacramento Barons tournament a few weeks ago. I knew that Sean Odou would be a problem for us, but at that point I wasn't yet ready to make any comparisons to Dirk Nowitzki. Oops, I should have.
