Wildcards Roll On as East Beats West APRIL 15, 2006 -- The red-hot E#1 Wildcards rolled on last Sunday 4/16 with their 6th consecutive win, knocking W#4 Bomb Squad, which survived a close game against E#5 Mix, to the Losers Bracket. In other games, the E#3 Sugar Beats and E#2 Bench Gremlin sent their Western foes to the Losers Bracket dungeon. W#5 Syuhn Fung beat E#4 Game Time to setup a matchup against W#1 San Jose Vikings this Sunday 4/16. It is the only game on the docket this Sunday as the Vikings' side of the bracket catches up with the rest of the playoffs (due to various scheduling issues). If Syuhn Fung can pull off the upset, the Losers Bracket would add one more team to the fray that currently includes W#2 Ballaz By Law, W#3 Below The Rim, and W#4 Bomb Squad. In this scenario, we would have Syuhn Fung vs Ballaz By Law and Below The Rim vs Bomb Squad in the Losers Bracket, but the Winners Bracket would have to be re-seeded with Syuhn Fung to face the highest-ranked Wildcards. If the San Jose Vikings take care of business against Syuhn Fung, then Ballaz By Law would be the highest-ranked team in the Losers Bracket and get a bye on 4/23 while Below The Rim and Bomb Squad duke it out to advance. The Winners Bracket would have the E#1 Wildcards vs the E#3 Sugar Beats and the W#1 San Jose Vikings vs E#2 Bench Gremlin, because the Wildcards are the highest-ranked team and get to face the lowest-ranked team among those remaining. No matter what happens on 4/23, on 4/30 the Losers Bracket will have a doubleheader situation so that we end up with three teams remaining on 5/7: the survivor of the Winners Bracket and the two remaining survivors of the Losers Bracket. Since a Syuhn Fung upset this Sunday 4/16 could change the brackets around because we re-seed after each round, it's not worth putting up any semblance of the brackets at this time.
