Playoffs Get Underway 4/9 APRIL 6, 2006 -- Still one more regular season game to go, a repeat of Count It vs Faded, which Faded won on 4/2. Faded needs a win to avoid a tiebreaker situation to see which team finishes closes to Count It in the standings. The format of the playoffs will be a #8 vs #9 play-in, followed by the winner vs #1 -- or something to that effect. Let's see what happens with Count It vs Faded Part Deux. Here are recaps from 4/2... WOH 43, Last 38: 4th straight win for WOH gives them double-elim. Vince Lau (W) got hot with 8 pts in 4th to finish with 22 pts. Ryan led Last with 15 pts, Al Onia only 1-for-5 treys. FAO 45, Warr 40: In absence of Kevin Haynes, Jimmy Su led FAO with 18 pts, Rob Plang 11 pts. Dang led Warr with 14 pts. Faded 32, Count 26: Faded survives 0-for-5 4th quarter, but had 8-for-12 free throws. Count It only got 1-for-2 (misprint?) in 4th. Jae Chun (F) 11 pts, Ed Chui 10 reb. Kris Neri (C) 12 pts, Ben Lee 10 reb 4 ast. Hstl 43, Geraldo 30: Hstl capt Henry Nghe with 2 big treys in 3rd quarter to help pull away. Long Tran (H) 10 pts, Fagaragan (G) 12 pts. Playoff Picture Developing Free Fellaz: By far the favorite, only undefeated team in all 7 Dream League divisions...Have they really been tested?...They only beat FAO by 4 and East is beating each other up (good experience for playoffs). Baya vs Hustlers: Winner gets double-elim, simple as that...Bayawa hasn't faced an Eastern team yet and that could be shell-shock trouble if they don't get double-elim...Hustlers 12-point loss to Last Minute not a good sign. Faded vs Count It (twice): If Faded can win both games against Count It, give Faded double-elim and Count It will be in big trouble, relegated to play-in game in Round 1...Even two wins can't guarantee Faded won't face Count It in play-in in Round 1, winner plays doubleheader against #1 seed, due to East situation. FAO vs Warr: Playoffs gonna be cut-throat, thus playoffs essentially have already started for Warr, not only need win for double-elim status, but also avoid loss to possibly be a low seed for play-in game. Last vs WOH: Summer/Fall runners-up WOH without double-elim status? Unthinkable!...After 0-4 start, they've righted the ship, but in same predicament as Warr in avoiding 8th or 9th place overall, which must play play-in game...East up for grabs, tiebreakers will be in full effect -- the playoffs have essentially started already! |
