| Playoffs Get Underway 4/23
APRIL 6, 2006 -- Seven-game regular season is coming down to a close. Wildcatz play against East Bay Cardinals two straight weekends due to 3/5 makeup to be played on 4/16 and this weekend's standings-based matchups. Will be quite a series heading into the playoffs. Game Time is hoping the Cards get swept while the Rayguns hope the Wildcatz get swept.
Remember that the #1 and #2 teams in the league will get a mini-bye in Round 1 of the playoffs, playing the winners of #6 vs #3 and #5 vs #4.
Rayguns are actually in 3rd as of this writing due to head-to-heads over Driven and Game Time. Game Time is technically in 5th due to the head-to-head loss to Driven, and plays against Play Hard. Game Time will be without two starters while Play Hard will be without one, therefore this matchup comes at a good time.

Catz 73, Driven 68: Catz rallied from 58-49 3rd quarter deficit to outscore Driven 24-10 in 4th. Sunny Margate led Driven with 25 pts but no supporting cast as Carlo Lacsamana remains a no-show. Rygn 76, Play Hard 74: Play Hard stormed back from 42-29 halftime deficit, pressing Rayguns depleted guard crew, but Barry Lee came up with big shots in 4th to finish with 19 pts. Andre Lockett (R) blazed trail with 26 pts 17 reb 7 blk. Carlos Gacula a quiet 22 pts on 9-for-23 shooting and 6 ast 5 stl. 4/2 Previews
EBC vs GmTm: EBC looking for 5th straight win...Who woulda thunk after last few struggles in NL?...GmTm needs a win if any hope of trying to win Eastern Conference...Guard-heavy GmTm will need to step it up down low to neutralize Andrew Lee and Tony Tran, but guards already have their hands full with pg Johnson Bui, sg Karl Gusner, sf Huy Nguyen, and sf Ross Lim...Should be good matchup of pf's Dave Peng of GmTm and Tran of EBC, both scrappiest players in league...Once again comes down to who makes shots or conversely who can defend better. Driven vs Catz: First time meeting between both teams comes at a good time, a few games before playoffs...Driven pf Sunny Margate looks to keep Catz frontline on its heels as Catz aren't used to defending a frontline playmaker...Who will guard Catz sharpshooter Mike Reding?...Probably has to be KJ Rosales, who is quick enough to keep up and only gives up maybe an inch in height/wingspan...Key for Driven may be pg Sean Caiola, who hopes to disrupt bigger guard Jeremy Brady...Finally young Ryan Cruz will probably matchup on Catz veteran Teraz Lee...Good matchups all around. Play Hard vs Rayguns: Rayguns a bit depleted esp. at guard positions for this weekend, but Play Hard still trying to find itself. Andre Lockett should have strong presence down low against less experienced Play Hard frontline, but Play Hard will have its strength in guards Chris Hong and Carlos Gacula...We'll see who shows up. STRETCH RUN TO PLAYOFFS: Remember, 7 regular season games, all teams enter playoffs, all teams double-elim, #1 and #2 await #3 thru #6 winners (#3 thru #6 advancers play doubleheader) in Round 1...Top three seeds determined by conference winners...Catz vs EBC makeup game on 4/16...Surprisingly, it's EBC not Catz running away with it...Three pre-season favorites in Catz, GmTm, and Driven all around .500, with Rayguns and Play Hard not too far behind...With two more regular season games plus double-elim for playoffs, in next 3 games, will Rayguns and Play Hard find enough chemistry to make this thing even more interesting? | Score by Quarters | Team | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | OT | Total |
