AAA-6 Cheep Thoughts from 6/1

6/13/2008 4:00PM

Remember Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey from Saturday Night Live? Well, here's the Bay Area dreamleague's weekly version: Cheep Thoughts. A collection of my thoughts on each game as I go thru the scoresheets and post scores on the website. One-plus minute per game multipled by about 45-50 games and I can knock this beast out in an hour -- yeah right, it always ends up being double. The idea here is that I do not spend hours upon hours of time coming up with game articles...

AAA-6: On a Sat afternoon makeup day on 5/24 at SQHM, BBOF defeated IITWI to send IITWI to the Lower Playoffs, 59-49. Chris Liclican once again went on fire in the 2nd half, scoring 11 of his 13, to go along with 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and no turnovers. Allan Pera led IITWI with 18 points... The MVPs defeated SuperBad 43-33 as Tony Meadows scored all of his 11 points in the 2nd half. Daniel Chiu had 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals on sparse scoring by both teams, but Chiu shot just 3-for-19 from the floor... The Terrace Park Hawks eliminated Alpha Q, 51-36. JR Del Mundo scored 14 points and Evan Chin added 12 for the Hawks. Alpha Q didn't have anyone in double-digits. Jason Tejano was the lone bright spot with 3 blocked shots... The ChopSticks held off S.Rhino, 47-40, by outscoring them 12-4 in the 4th quarter. Ahanh Tien scored 17 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and got 4 steals to lead the way. Kai Shum led the way for S.Rhino on the boards, with 16 rebounds (but only 3 points)... John Hsu fended off the Goonies, 55-51. The Goonies came back from a 25-39 deficit heading into the 4th quarter, but fell short. Once again, John Hsu was a 5-man posse, led by Kenny Lee with 24 points. Rebounding freak John Hsu, the man himself, grabbed 12 boards. Somthy Muikrathok led the Goonies with 14 points, 15 rebounds (8 of them in the 1st quarter alone), and 4 blocked shots... The Golden Mountain Warriors defeated Smokey, 51-36, as Mike Lai opened things up with 4 treys, totaling 16 of his 23 points in the 1st quarter. GMW cruised to a 21-12 lead, but then only scored 1 point in the 2nd, heading into halftime with a slim 22-21 lead. Bao Le erupted for 6 of his 11 points in the 4th quarter to close things out. Andy Hsieh led Smokey with 12... Van Dam Clan booted Team Impact out of the playoffs with a 47-39 victory. Ray Pagulayan led VDC with 16 points, but shot just 7-for-18 in the process. He was just 2-for-8 to close things out in the 4th, but Team Impact managed just 5 points that quarter, letting a manageable 34-37 deficit heading into the 4th fade into the sunset. Rafael Avendano Diaz led Team Impact with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Tuan Mai also chipped in 13 in defeat. Dennis Alaba contributed 9 points, 12 rebounds for the winning VDC.
