MAY 4, 2006 -- The #1 East Bay Cardinals and #2 Wildcatz advanced with thrilling victories over #4 Game Time and #3 Driven, respectively.
The Cardinals rode the back of Karl Gusner to catchup to Game Time and force overtime, where Ross Lim hit a buzzer beater to send Game Time to the Losers Bracket. Meanwhile, the Wildcatz ran past Driven as both teams displayed their offensive prowess, then Mike Reding overwhelmed Driven in the 4th quarter.
The Cards and Catz will now meet at 7pm at Potrero this Sunday 5/7, the Cards homecourt. It is a later tipoff due to some Cards players having conflicts with the Sac tournament and another league late at night.
In the Losers Bracket, Game Time will go up against Play Hard and Driven against the Rayguns. These matchups cannot repeat those of the first round, otherwise those of the first round would be rendered somewhat irrelevant.
The Game Time vs Play Hard game is a late tipoff at 5pm due to the Sac tourney conflict. There are no major conflicts for the Rayguns vs Driven game at 3pm, but the game involving the winners of these Losers Bracket games is going to be a really late tipoff at 8pm, due to the Cards' requirement of 7pm. There is really no other way to schedule it unless the AAA-P games are messed up or one of our NL Losers Bracket teams is forced to play back-to-back. |
