Have you seen the latest video where the ballboy for the Chicago Bulls is waiting for LeBron James to hand him the sweatpants, and LeBron tosses it to the side so the ballboy has to pick it up off the floor? Shooting shirt A is not too far behind, followed by shooting shirt B. That’s three garments the poor kid had to pick up off the floor, in rapid succession.

Then we learned that, not too long ago, LeBron’s idea of adding cache to his LRMR corporation was to add Chris Paul to the team by having him buy equity in the company. Hmm, at this juncture and in this context, I’m not sure that CP3 was going to be a good fit, ya know?

I guess this wonderfully funny clip showing some Asian-Americans in New York not too fond of the Big Apple’s landing of LBJ as a free agent, is somewhat appropriate?…

Charles Gaines clocking Du Feng leads off this installment of 3pt Play, where things tend to happen in threes. Exhibit A: Gaines, who once played for the San Antonio Spurs, knocks out Du in the Chinese Basketball Association. Then we have Exhibits B and C (non-basketball-related): 59-year-old Tian-Sheng Yu and his 27-year-old son Cheng Yu getting beat up in broad daylight in downtown Oakland…

My EF Huttons: Mark Cuban and David Stern.

The next EF Hutton award goes to Mark Cuban. It’s also a 3-Pt Play because three of his last four blogposts have been about business and entrepreneurship.

You may not know this, but Entrepreneurship 101 is out there, it’s free, and you don’t need to pay six figures to get a diploma that says “MBA” on it from a name-brand school.

Just go to Cuban’s blogmaverick.com and do a search on “success & motivation” or “business” or “entrepreneurship”. Try that “sleeping on a friend’s couch” thing. Trust me, that is the ultimate rite of passage for an entrepreneur. I don’t know why, it just is. For whatever reason. Without fail.

Jerryd Bayless, super dribbler. (Click to watch video.)

In this installment of the 3-Point Play, we touch upon Jerryd Bayless, who in case you haven’t read every single one of my posts, Poor Man’s Commish does have a man-crush on.

Most recently, three interesting things about him recently crossed my desktop.

First, him in a TV episode of Sports Science where they measure how fast he can dribble versus how fast a drummer can drum. Pretty cool! Guess who wins?

Second, a piece about how (ironically) a dribbling expert is asked to help Bayless with his dribbling. Really cool first-person account of the experience.

And finally, Bayless has started his own blog, which he says will be updated on a weekly basis. I like his first post where he dispels the myth that he plays angry or is always angry. I can see how there might be that myth, though, because when he plays he looks ultra-intense. The fact that he’s accepted (publicly now) his current role with Portland speaks volumes. Root for Jerryd Bayless, people!

Living the dream: Stephen Curry.

For some strange reason, interesting things tend to come in threes. Sometimes the stuff that crosses a Poor Man’s Commish’s desk — it may take awhile to develop — but the first one is pretty cool, the second one is a nice follow-up, but the third one, that just seems to frame a nice picture.
